A Scarce Newspaper Printed “For the Benefit of the Sick and Wounded in Hammond General Hospital, Point Lookout, Md.”

This 8 ½ x 11 ½ inch, 4-page newspaper is the only example we have seen from the famous Point Lookout Prisoner of War Camp.  It is Vol. 1, No. 17 and dated March 10th, 1863.  The first 2 ½ pages have interesting news articles, these are followed by a listing of Officers connected with the hospital and a list of patients now in the Hammond General Hospital by state.

We will include a very interesting article from the magazine, “The Civil War Monitor”, Spring 2016 issue, which has an excellent diagram of the hospital and prison.  Condition and some staining and separation.  A very rare paper for the medical or P.O.W. collector.
