Silver ID Disc from the Famous Excelsior Brigade – GETTYSBURG – Charles Moose Co. C, 70th New York Infantry – Lists 8 Battles!

This style ID badge is shown on page 70 in the book, “Identification Discs of Union Soldiers in the Civil War”. It is listed as “Very Rare”. What makes the tag so desirable (other than the fact that it was a hard-fought regiment… “Sickles Own”) is that there are 8 battles listed:

PENINSULAR CAMPAIGN
BRISTOW STATION
FREDERICKSBURG
CHANCELLORSVILLE
GETTYSBURG
WAPPING HEIGHTS
KELLEY’S FORD
LOCUST GROVE

Engraved on the front:

CHARLES W. MOOSE
CO. C.
1ST REG.
EXC.
BRIGADE
DANSVILLE, N.Y.

Moose enlisted on April 22nd, 1861 in Paw Paw, Michigan!  He fought all 4 years and was mustered out July 1st, 1864.  A magnificent Civil War ID disc.
