Fine CDV of Union Cavalry General Phil Sheridan along with a Patriotic Letter Sheet “Sheridan’s Ride”
This CDV shows the General wearing his distinctive hat and seated. It is so crisp that you can see the stars on his shoulder straps. The corners are sharp and there is a 2-cent revenue stamp on the reverse. The price that we paid for it many years ago is still in pencil on the reverse.
The patriotic letter sheet measuring 5 x 8 inches was published in 1864 by J. Magee in Philadelphia. It tells the story of Sheridan’s 20-mile ride to Winchester, Va. when he saved the day. It has a red, white and blue border with “Liberty and Union” at the top.
This pair, framed up would look amazing.
