Fine Autographed CDV of General. Henry B. Carrington, Commander during the Fetterman Massacre

This Indian war period CDV shows a bust view of Carrington. The photographer imprint on the reverse is, “E. P. & WM. KELLOGG, Photographic Artists, 263 MAIN ST., HARTFORD, CONN.” In nice dark ink at the top of the back: “Henry B. Carrington Col. U.S. Army, Late Brig. Gen. Vols.”

The U.S. Military mission was to protect travelers on the Bozeman Trail. Chief Crazy Horse and a confederation of Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes lured the U.S. soldiers into an ambush. All 81 men under the command of Captain William J. Fetterman were killed. Fetterman was under the command of Henry B. Carrington. Take time to read the whole story… it’s fascinating.

Beautiful condition. A truly historic photograph.
