This document, “Special Order No. 34” from the Adjt. & Insp. Genl’s Office in Montgomery, Alabama has been in our collection for the past 40+ years. You just do not see very many good documents from the 1st Capitol. In this one Lt. Col. E. K. Smith is to proceed to Lynchburg, Virginia. Along with him Major H. L. Clay Asst. Adjt. Genl’s will also proceed there. Samuel Cooper signs for the Secretary of War.

This document comes “with a history”. Down in the bottom left corner it is docked that this piece was given as a gift in Baltimore, March 31st, 1870! The document is in fine condition.
