Following the Confederate Takeover of Fort Sumter, Ordnance Supplies are Sent to the Fort via the Boat of Future Confederate General R. S. Ripley.  This Boat, The Steamer Planter was the One that Slave Robert Smalls would Steal on his Voyage to Freedom Just 17 Days Later

This document dated April 25th, 1861, just 10 days after the fall of Fort Sumter, reads as follows:

Wanted to fill requisitions for Fort Sumter
already made.
Brass Plugs for 10 inch shells –
Fuse Setters for Brass Plugs – 8 x 10 inch
Wrenches for 8 x 10 inch Columbiads
It would assist materially to have two proper men to report to John F. Henery A. M. S. at Fort Sumter.  The men would do tomorrow.
The Steamer Planter will leave Southern Wharf at 7 o’clock this evening –
