Silver 90th PA. Gettysburg I.D. Pin – 1st Sergt. John Robson Co. F – His Name is on the Monument at Gettysburg
John Robson enlisted in the 9oth Pennsylvania in February 1862 and was immediately sent to fight against Stonewall Jackson in the Shenandoah Valley, next came Rappahannock Station, Groveton, South Mountain and Antietam. At the close of the Antietam campaign, the 9oth transferred to the 1st Corps. under General Reynolds with Col. Lyle in command. It fought under General Gibbon at Fredericksburg, the “Mud March” and the Chancellorsville Campaign. Its most famous battle was at Gettysburg when it took 191 men into battle and lost over 100! In 1864, Robson fought in the Wilderness and the regiment lost 124 men out of 251. When Robson’s term of service expired in November 1864, he transferred into the 11th PA.
The silver I.D. pin is a shield style with T-bar pin on the reverse. While most shield style pins are thin silver, this example is of a much higher quality with exquisite engraving and “War of t861” stamped at the bottom. A truly outstanding example.
