Confederate States Military Prison Hospl
Richmond July 13th, 1863
My Dear Katie,
I have anxiously expected some word from You, but have, as yet, received none. I hope all are well. You must keep up a good heart and tell Mother to do likewise. I get along tolerably well, if that will express it. Nothing under heaven will ever separate us again Katie, but death. I hope and pray that we may be soon together, you must write me a few lines. Give my love to Mother. Kiss our little darling for me. Goodbye.
Your ever Affectionate Husband,
H. Lindsey Pierce
