Nevada: The Manhattan Silver Mining Co. $5

Here is a “mint” example (unused) of the famous Manhattan Silver Mine Company note from Austin, Nevada. 

“PAY TO THE BARRIER:            FIVE DOLLARS IN MERCHANTABLE SILVER,
          Paxton & Curtis Bankers, Austin, Nev.”

This attractive crisp note is printed in GREEN INK with yellow seal background.  At the center of the note is a beautiful rural view of the mine in Austin, Nevada in the 1870’s.  This piece is from the famous John Ford collection!
