WAGON BOX FIGHT – Document Signed by Capt. James Powell 18th U.S. Infantry

One of our favorite prints was put out by the U.S. Army Reserve in a series of different fighting scenes. It showed 1,500 Lakota Sioux charging Capt. James Powell & his 31 men of the 18th U.S. Infantry. We have looked for the past 30 years for an autograph of Powell and finally found a nice example.

James Powell signs a muster-out roll on January 25th, 1865 in St. Louis, Missouri for the 8th Regiment of Cavalry. Of course muster rolls are large and not easily displayed. The part that Powell signs, however, is very easily displayed. That is the part our photos show. Condition is fine with one stain at the bottom. Powell signature is a 10/10.

A true rarity and great example of this famous Indian fighter.
